The Hawthorne Club
The Hawthorne Club
Hunter Juniors would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of The Hawthorne Club for their continued financial support of the Union and the Wildfires Representative Teams. The Hawthorne Club was established in 1997 to commemorate one of Newcastle's most famous footballers, Phil Hawthorne. The primary object of the Club is to raise funds to promote Representative Rugby Union, and the sport of Rugby generally in the Hunter Region. Since the demise of the Wildfires in 1999, the Club has generously supported Hunter Junior and Newcastle & Hunter Senior Rugby Representative teams and players in their quest for Representative success and higher honours. The Hawthorne Club holds the rights to the Newcastle Wildfires name in anticipation of the day the Wildfires will play again in regular higher competition.
